Dimensions
A system works best when its three Dimensions—People, Processes, and Products—are balanced. When one is neglected, the entire system struggles. Imagine a team of skilled people (People) with no clear workflows (Processes) trying to build something meaningful (Products). Without structure, things fall apart. Confusion sets in, frustration grows, and progress slows.
People
The People dimension represents everyone involved in a system, from individuals and teams to leadership and external stakeholders. It’s not just about who is present, but how they interact, communicate, and contribute. A system without the right People is like a ship with no crew. It won’t get far.
Processes
The Processes dimension consists of the workflows, decision-making structures, and operational mechanics that guide functionality. Processes act like a playbook, making sure work happens efficiently and consistently. Without them, even the most talented team can struggle. Imagine a sports team playing without rules or strategy. No matter how skilled the players are, the game falls into chaos.
Products
The Products dimension includes everything a system creates or delivers. This could be physical goods, digital solutions, services, or even ideas. Products are the reason a system exists. Without clear outcomes, there’s no direction, like taking a journey with no destination.
Interplay Between Dimensions
Each Dimension is connected. People define the system’s vision, Processes ensure things run smoothly, and Products provide tangible results. When one is weak, the entire system struggles.
Picture an airplane:
- People are the pilots and crew, guiding the journey.
- Processes are the flight controls, checklists, and air traffic systems ensuring a smooth trip.
- Products are the flight itself and the successful arrival at the destination.
If the crew isn’t trained, the processes are unclear, or the product (the flight) is compromised, the whole system fails. The same applies to any structure within The Cubed Method. Balance between People, Processes, and Products ensures stability, adaptability, and long-term success.
